Contact Us

The best way to find out about the club is to visit us and meet some members.

The club is open on Sundays during terms 4 and 1 from 8.30am until about 4pm.

Our club is run by volunteers, so if your query cannot answered by the frequently asked questions (FAQs) and you’ve had a good look through the website, then send us a message and we will get back to you, hopefully within a couple of days.

Start Sailing 1

Designed as initial sailing experience for beginners, this is the program to see if your child likes sailing and wants to pursue the sport. For this course we use our fleet of Pacer dinghies. Children are accompanied in the boat by one of our qualified instructors. The big focus is fun - we want children to love it and come back and do more!

Capsizing and righting the boat is a fundamental (and very fun!) skill that students learn at this stage.

Better Sailing

After completing Start Sailing 1 & 2, participants progress on to Better Sailing. In this course, students will use their own boat, or one of the club boats. They can sail Sabots, PJs or continue in the Optis they’ve been using for Start Sailing. During this course students master all of the fundamental sailing skills and are now equipped to sail their own dinghy on their own voyage of discovery. Kids can choose to one up (solo) or two up (with a friend crewing). Sailors gain experience in stronger winds and develop the skills required to get maximum speed from their dinghy on different points of sail. This is the stage where we move from learning the basics to focusing on sailing your boat fast, and the participants will get the opportunity to join the race fleet, if they choose, under the instruction of their coaches.

When:

Saturdays: 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Or

Sun: 8:30am - 10:30am

Duration: Full term

For: Adults and Kids who have done SS1 and SS2 and are competent helming the boat on their own.

Open to:

Members

Non-Members

Course Cost:

Member: $440

Non-Member: $575

Start Racing

Once you know how to sail your boat fast it’s time to start showing everyone has fast you are! Which means it’s time to start having a go at racing. There’s quite a lot to learn, from rules to start sequences to tactics and strategy. So we start slowly and build the expertise. The most important thing is to be in the races and learning.

Better Racing

Having enjoyed your introduction to racing it is now time to improve your performance and compete at a higher level. A greater understanding of tactics, wind patterns and boat tuning techniques will all help you get there.

Adventure Sailing

Adventure Sailing is for kids who have completed Start Sailing 1 &2 (or equivalent standard) but who want to focus on having fun, rather than building advanced sailing/racing skills.

Sessions run for two hours on Sunday mornings. The focus will be on fun and adventure, overseen by a coach.

Unsure which course to put your child in?

If your child hasn’t sailed before then we recommend they start with Start Sailing 1. Kids will be taught in a Pacer Dinghy with an instructor and other kids. If they’ve already done a holiday camp and you’re registering for their first Sunday coaching program they can either do Start Sailing 1 or Start Sailing 2. In Start Sailing 2 we use PJ’s for this course, with one or two sailors in the boat, and the instructor will be on a rescue boat, not in the sailing boat with the children.
