Spring has sprung

Jules Hall

A glorious day at the club on Sunday morning for Father's Day.

The children kindly cooked the Fathers a gourmet breakfast. Then they rigged their boats without any help, set up the ducks, loaded escort with the course markers and untangled the anchor ropes*.

Reluctantly they finally agreed to stop doing all the work, and to have some time for themselves, climbing into their boats and going for a sail.

Max Nearn opened the season with a pair of bullets in the Sabots.

The Cherub fleet decided it was too light for skiffs and opted for PJs. As did some of the kids too young for Sabots.

Lots of laughter and good times.

*As if!

It’s the first day of Spring and the weather looks great so lets all get the new season off to a great start.

New Season. New Committee.

Jules Hall

On Sunday 18th August we held the AGM, welcoming in new committee members and bidding farewell to others.

Richard Steyn stepped down as Commodore after four years in the role, replaced by Robert Ugarte.

Richard has invested an enormous amount of time into the club during his time as Commodore. Notable achievements include the growth of the Sailing School, the integration with Australian Sailing and their associated coaching programs and perhaps most significantly, the re-introduction of a 12’ skiff fleet with the Cherubs.

On behalf of the members we extend a very big 'thank you to Richard and look forward to seeing him back at the club enjoying more sailing and less organising!

James Hammermaster stepped down as Treasurer, replaced by Ian Manovel. We welcome Ian and thank James for bringing the club’s finances into the digital age. James has also been a key driver of the increasingly positive financial position of the club. James remains on the committee as a general committee member.
